The kids were given paper, and told to fold it into a fun flap (if you aren\u2019t familiar with the name, you\u2019re not alone; I\u2019d never heard the name before, even though I was familiar with the game, and it took my colleague Rosa Maria several years of research to find the correct name).<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.escolacristiana.org\/pac\/files\/2013\/05\/hamish3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1196\" title=\"hamish3\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.escolacristiana.org\/pac\/files\/2013\/05\/hamish3-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once they had their fun flaps folded and ready, they began the English work. The aim was to practise asking and answering questions in the present simple. On each flap, the students wrote a question using sentence starters like \u2018How often do you&#8230;?\u2019 and \u2018Do you ever&#8230;?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.escolacristiana.org\/pac\/files\/2013\/05\/hamish2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1195\" title=\"hamish2\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.escolacristiana.org\/pac\/files\/2013\/05\/hamish2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Whilst they were making their fun flaps, I was walking round the class, helping with grammar and springing questions on them with a fun flap I\u2019d made earlier. Questions written, the activity began; in pairs, the students played with the fun flaps, asking and answering questions at random, until, at our signal, they changed partners and started again.<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.escolacristiana.org\/pac\/files\/2013\/05\/hamish4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1197\" title=\"hamish4\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.escolacristiana.org\/pac\/files\/2013\/05\/hamish4-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The students really enjoyed the activity; it was something different from what they were used to, and it also gave them the chance to write their own questions.
