Escola Santa Teresa de Jes\u00fas is a school located in Vilanova i la Geltr\u00fa, in the Mediterranean coast. It is their second year in the Conversation Assitants Program and they are having a great experience. Marcus has fully integrated into the school and Vilanova, as you will read in their submission for the blog.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nadales solid\u00e0ries <\/strong><\/p>\n

El dia 22 de desembre, i complint amb una tradici\u00f3 que fa anys que est\u00e0 arrelada al nostre Col\u00b7legi de Santa Teresa de Jes\u00fas, els alumnes de 4rt d\u2019ESO van anar a cantar nadales als avis de la Resid\u00e8ncia Santa Teresa, situada a la part antiga de Vilanova i la Geltr\u00fa.<\/p>\n

\"\"Enguany compt\u00e0vem amb una participaci\u00f3 estel\u00b7lar: el Marcus. Ell, a m\u00e9s a m\u00e9s de ser una gran auxiliar de conversa participa amb gran inter\u00e8s en les activitats de la comunitat educativa. En aquesta ocasi\u00f3 va voler acompanyar-nos no nom\u00e9s de pres\u00e8ncia, sin\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 musicalment ja que toca el saxofon.<\/p>\n

Els avis van estar molt contents amb la nostra visita, fins i tot es van animar a entonar alguna Nadala. Acabat el recital particular ens van oferir refrescs i galetes, a m\u00e9s a m\u00e9s de fer-nos entrega d\u2019uns punts de llibre que ells mateixos havien elaborat. Tot menjant era quan arribaven les preguntes d\u2019una avis curiosos per la vida dels estudiants, professors i com no podia ser d\u2019altra manera, de l\u2019auxiliar de conversa que parlava una llengua estranya i venia d\u2019un altre pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

Tots vam considerar que l\u2019experi\u00e8ncia havia estat molt enriquidora, els alumnes van connectar molt b\u00e9 amb els avis i entre tots vam comen\u00e7ar a crear un caliu nadalenc que ens ha acompanyat durant totes les festes d\u2019una forma solid\u00e0ria, integradora i molt divertida.<\/p>\n

Making the\u00a0decision to move to Spain to take part on the CAPS \"\"program has been one of the best\u00a0decisions\u00a0I’ve made in my life. I’m\u00a0absolutely\u00a0loving my time here in Vilanova, teaching the kids English at Escola Santa Teresa, planning\u00a0activities, taking part in school trips and learning the Spanish language.\u00a0My Catalan family have made me one of there own by looking after me so well and making me feel at home. Vilanova i la geltru is a beautiful city and I’m pleased I was able to come here to experience a new lifestyle and culture.<\/em><\/p>\n

I find being a\u00a0Conversation\u00a0assistant here at Santa Teresa rewarding as it challenges me everyday to communicate clearly and effectively with the kids, and to create a fun learning environment where they feel comfortable to speak English with me and\u00a0with\u00a0one another. We play English board games, have mini debates, role play and our latest and most fun activity we did was singing\u00a0Christmas\u00a0carols at a\u00a0elderly\u00a0home for the\u00a0elderly. I\u00a0accompanied them with my saxophone on a few of the songs and sang the rest, I had a blast.\u00a0I’m having a wonderful\u00a0experience\u00a0here, the teachers and especially my tutor make me feel welcome and are ever so helpful to me. I would\u00a0definitely\u00a0recommend\u00a0this program to anyone wanting a new life\u00a0experience.<\/em><\/p>\n
